Maximizing Med Pay for your Car Accident Case

When making a claim for a personal injury case, it is important that you maximize any potential benefits. Medical payments, also known as “Med Pay,” is something that is many times overlooked, especially if someone is trying to handle the claim on their own, without the assistance of an New Hampshire Personal Injury Lawyer.

Med Pay benefits are available under most automobile policies. The Med Pay provision in your auto insurance policy will usually provide you with between $1,000.00 and $5,000.00 in medical benefits coverage, which you can use to pay medical bills related to your injury claim. This coverage also applies to passengers in your vehicle who are injured in an accident or auto-related injury.

It should be noted that some companies will increase the med pay limit if you are wearing a seatbelt. Often, people do not know that they are entitled to this, and simply do not request it.

Med Pay coverage is “no-fault” coverage, meaning regardless of liability, you are entitled to the benefits. We will collect the Med Pay on behalf of our client, and we will hold it in our trust account to use those funds to pay off any medical bills or liens at the end of the case. We will negotiate with medical providers to take a reduction to maximize the net settlement proceeds in our client’s pocket. We do not take a fee for any Med Pay that we can recover, as this is done as a courtesy for our clients. If you have any questions regarding Med Pay, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
